Editorial Policy
How we write, source, and maintain every guide on this site.
Our sourcing standard
We prefer primary, official sources: the Canada Revenue Agency (cra-arc.gc.ca), canada.ca, and the official business registries of each province and territory. Where a topic is legal or tax-related, we cite the government source and avoid stating conclusions that belong to a professional.
Accuracy and hedging
Fees, tax rates, and thresholds change. Rather than present them as permanent, we state them as of the current year and tell readers to confirm on the official source. We do not invent figures, deadlines, or form numbers.
Updating
Guides carry an "Updated" date. We revisit high-traffic guides, especially those covering tax years and registration fees, and correct anything that has changed.
Independence and advertising
Editorial content is produced independently of commercial relationships. Some pages contain affiliate links; these are disclosed and do not influence our recommendations. We do not accept payment to rank a product or service more favourably.
Corrections policy
If you spot an error, email hello@soleproprietorship.ca with the page and source. Verified corrections are made promptly and, where material, noted on the page.
No professional advice
Nothing on this site is legal, tax, accounting, or financial advice. It is general information to help you ask better questions of the CRA or a qualified professional.
